Robert F. Hopper, Jr., age 73, of 167 Savage Hill Road, Orangeville, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday morning, April 18, 2020, of natural causes.
Born in Bloomsburg on December 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Robert F., Sr., and Audrey L. (Kemp) Hopper. He grew up in Almedia and lived in Mt. Pleasant Township before moving to Orange Township 18 years ago. He was a 1966 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Bob was employed by Haddon Craftsmen and its successor R. R. Donnelly Corp. for many years and was manager of the bindery department when he retired in 2001.
He was a member of the former Bloomsburg Loyal Order of Moose Lodge for many years and currently a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion. An excellent fly fisherman, he tied his own flies. Earlier in his life he was an avid hunter.
Bob served his country with honor by serving in the U. S. Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service medal with three bronze service stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal and the Sharpshooter (rifle) medal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta M. Boslego, on May 30, 1994.
Surviving are his wife, Sally S. Rescorla, with whom he observed his 42nd wedding anniversary on December 10, 2019 and two sons: Lon Matthew Hopper, Mt. Pleasant Township and Jordan Paul Hopper, and his wife Meredith, Mifflinville; a granddaughter, Isabella Jordan Hopper, Mifflinville and two brothers: Donald L. Hopper, Almedia and Jeffrey W. Hopper, and his wife Cindy, Millville and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Bob’s life gathering after the coronavirus pandemic.
