Paul E. Derr, age 98, formerly of Derr's Road, Bloomsburg, died at 11 a. m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Vintage Knolls Senior Living Center in Danville.
Born on September 8, 1921 in Hemlock Township, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Hazel (Brobst) Derr. He was a lifelong resident of Hemlock Township.
Paul was employed by Danville State Hospital for 19 years where his last position was serving as a vocational instructor. He also was a dairy farmer for many years.
He was a member of the Emanuel Dutch Hill Bible Church and earlier had been a member of the former Dutch Hill United Church of Christ where he served on the Consistory for many years and also taught both youth and adult Sunday School classes. He also served on the Danville Area School District board for a number of years.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, the former Harriet B. Reichard, on July 30, 2019; by two brothers: Leroy C. Derr and Franklin E. Derr and by three sisters: Ethel M. Correll, Isabel I. Shultz and Esther G. Sandel.
Surviving are two sons: Gerald P. Derr, and his wife Diane, Bloomsburg and Dennis L. Derr, and his wife Mary Ann, Zionsville; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held for the immediate family with his pastor, Rev. George A. Zerbe officiating. Interment will be made in Dutch Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & cremation Service, 325 Market Street Bloomsburg.
