Kenneth D. Leidy, age 72, of 5007 Woods Road, Stewartstown, died at the York Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at 9:46 p.m. after an illness.
Born in Bloomsburg, on July 17, 1949, he was the son of the late Sheldon J. and Aldonna V. “Donna” (Morgalis) Leidy. He was a 1967 graduate of Central Columbia High School and also earned several master’s degrees in engineering. He resided in Stewartstown for the past 36 years.
Ken was employed by Northrop Grumman Corp. in Baltimore, MD for over 40 years, retiring in 2016. He was also an associate professor at the Penn State University Harrisburg campus.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years, including service in Vietnam.
Ken was a member of the Stewartstown VFW post. He loved world travel, reading, spending time with his grandchildren, and was a wine connoisseur. He enjoyed tinkering with computers and was interested in ham radio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gale L. Hervieux, on October 3, 2017 and a son, Kenneth D. Leidy, II, on July 5, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Geri L. Leidy, of Red Lion, and Heather L. Leidy, who resided with him, and three grandchildren: Brice Leidy, of Red Lion, Katherine Marie Leidy, of Jacobus, Oliver Jameson Leidy, of Red Lion.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Interment in Elan Memorial Park with military honors by the combined American Legion and VFW group. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m.
