Ellen A. (Kile) Glidewell, age 78, of 429 Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Susan Bennett, in Orangeville on Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2021.
Born at the Bloomsburg Hospital on December 14, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Emma A. (Fritz) Kile. She resided in North Centre Township for 18 years and previously lived in Millville for many years.
Ellen attended the Bloomsburg Schools and graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1960.
She was employed at the former F. W. Woolworth store on Main Street, Bloomsburg for 30 years, until the store closed. She then was employed as the manager of the former Phillips Emporium also on Main Street and last by Wal-Mart.
A lifelong member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ where she was a former elder, deacon and treasurer. She was an excellent baker and will be remembered by many for her delicious scones. She was a very outgoing person and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren L. Glidewell on October 4, 2016
She is survived by her daughter, Susan M., wife of Steven Bennett of Orangeville; two grandchildren: Kelsey L. Bennett, Orangeville and Zachary M. Bennett, Orangeville, step-grandson, Preston Bennett, and his wife Danielle of Kulpmont; two brothers: Larry C. Kile and his wife Barbara A. of Muncy and Allen R. Kile, and his wife Jane S. of Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. in Salem Cemetery, Unityville, with her pastor, Rev. Steven C. Hummel, officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
