Obituary

Dorothy M. (Stetler) Fester, age 100, of Page Road, Milton, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 4, 2020, a resident of the Milton Nursing  & Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November 13, 1919 in Columbia, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Fox) Stetler. She was a  graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1938.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, Danville, having attended Sunday School and church from age 5 and baptized at age 12. She had been actively involved in church activities, and for many years chaired the flower committee.

She was kind, creative and giving to all who knew her. She was an avid reader and flower grower, artistic in oil painting, as well as crafting and an excellent seamstress. She was well known in the area for the beautiful dollhouses she handcrafted - donating several to area organizations for fundraising purposes. Dorothy also collected dolls which she generously gave to family and friends.

Dorothy  was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth B. Fester, Sr. on March 6, 2006; by two brothers, three sisters and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Swartz.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth B. Fester, Jr., and his wife JoAnn, Danville; five daughters, Linda, wife of James Ivey, Danville; Barbara, wife of Harold Savage, Catawissa; Shirley, widow of Terry Brofee, West Milton; Janet, wife of Charles Swartz, Milton; June (Fester) Leffler, Danville; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Bingaman, of Vira.

At Dorothy's request, private graveside committal services and burial will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Danville,  at the convenience of the family with Pastor Dawes Dunham and Pastor Emeritus Dr. Harry Wonderland of First Baptist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's name are suggested to First Baptist Church, Flower Committee, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville, PA 17821.
