Dennis L. Richart, age 74, of 414 Catherine St., Bloomsburg, died on Monday, July 19, 2021, in the emergency room of the Geisinger-Shamokin Area Hospital after being stricken while playing golf at Three Ponds Golf Course in Ralpho Township, Northumberland County.
Born in Bloomsburg on Feb. 21, 1947, he was a son of the late John C. and Amanda Gertrude (Runyan) Richart. He spent his life in the Bloomsburg area and attended Bloomsburg High School.
Dennis was employed by Alaska Stove Co. as a welder for many years. He also worked for the former Charles Shotwell Plumbing and last at the former Rusty Rudder.
He enjoyed playing golf and fishing and in early life he was a hunter.
Dennis served with the U. S. Army following school and also was a member of the Army Reserves for six years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Eugene Runyan, William Richart, Marlin ”Moe” Richart, Chester Richart, and also by four sisters: Audrey Eichner, Wilma LaGasse, Julia Miller and Anita Peckne.
Dennis is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ellen Bower, with whom he observed their 49th wedding anniversary on May 15, 2021; a son, Brian Lee Richart, and his wife Olivia, Wilkes-Barre; a daughter Brenda Lynne, wife Brent Harmon, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Kaleb, Natalia, Dallas and Cash Hanson-Richart, Reese and Brady Harmon. Also surviving are three sisters: Shirley Foust, Florida, Patricia Hopper, Royersford, Sharon Long, Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later time.
