March 17, 1971 ~ August 15, 2021 (age 50)

Obituary

Daryle R. McNelis, 50, of 6 Hillside Drive, Bloomsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Born in Hershey, PA, on March 17, 1971, he was son of Donna K. (McNelis) and her husband, David P. Woodward.

Daryle was a 1989 graduate of Central Columbia High School and resided in the Bloomsburg area for most of his life.  He was employed most recently as a CDL driver for Lakeville Specialty Produce in Danville, but had previously worked in nuclear security at PPL and as a deputy sheriff in Montour County.  Daryle was also an active member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436 and Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.

Daryle was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with family and friends.  An avid outdoorsman, Daryle enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coaching Little League baseball.  Daryle was also a skilled carpenter and could fix just about anything.  He was loved for his dry sense of humor, fun-loving spirit, kind heart, and willingness to go above and beyond to help anyone in need.  Above all, Daryle’s sons were the pride and joy of his life.

Daryle is survived by his wife, Heather A. (Baylor) McNelis, with whom he shared 24 years of marriage; two sons: Garrett M. McNelis and Aiden R. McNelis, both of Bloomsburg; a sister, Tammy L. Kline, and her husband Paul, of Myerstown; a brother, Timothy B. Smith, and his wife Dara, of Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews: Nicholas, Aaron and Noah Kline, Shea Smith, Haley Hughes, Jacqueline Carter, Jared, Ethan, and Anne Snyder, and Matthew and Madeline Lee.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the LCBC church in Bloomsburg.  A visitation for family and friends will occur from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, followed by a celebration of Daryle’s life at 2:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the LCBC church or to a scholarship fund that has been created to assist with Garrett and Aiden’s education expenses at https://everloved.com/life-of/daryle-mcnelis/.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
