William L. Whispell, Sr., 84 of Fernville, Bloomsburg died at his home on Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2026 after an illness.

Born in Mahoning Township, Montour County on Jan. 4, 1942, he was a son of the late William and Katherine (Kessler) Whispell. He was a 1960 graduate of Danville High School and resided in Fernville since 1971.

William was a welder by trade and was employed by the American Car & Foundry Co. at their plants in Milton, Berwick and Arkansas. He was last employed by the Kauneer Mfg. in Bloomsburg for five years, retiring in 2003.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite activity was raising Boxers and their puppies.

He proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.

Surviving is his wife, the former Sandra R. Billman, with whom he observed their 64th wedding anniversary on January 3, 2026; two sons: William L. Whispell, Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia and Ronald Lee Whispell and his wife Angelique Sacco of Bloomsburg; a grandson, Heath Owen Whispell of Newport News, Virginia; a granddaughter Desiree Zoe Whispell of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

At his request there will be no funeral services or viewing.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
