William George Starr

William George Starr

William G. Starr, age 68, 95 Sugar Camp Road, Danville, passed away peacefully at his home at 11:50 p. m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, after an illness of two years.

Born in Liberty Township, Montour County on December 9, 1947, he was a son of the late George W. and Beverly (Schenck) Starr. He  resided in the Danville area his entire life and  was a 1966 graduate of Danville High School.

Bill was employed by Interstate Battery Co., Hughesville for 28 years, retiring in 2012.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and played softball earlier in his life. He was especially proud of his daughter and three granddaughters.

Bill proudly served with the US Army in Vietnam from August, 1967 to July, 1969.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan McCarty.

Bill is survived by his wife, the former Mary E. Fenstermacher, with whom he would have celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2016; a daughter, Rebecca L., wife of Ruben Cinti,  Phoenixville; three granddaughters: Sabrina, Sophia and Sienna Cinti, Phoenixville; a sister, Crystal, wife of Earl Buck, Milton; two brothers: Perry Schenck, and his wife Cindy, Danville and Michael Schenck, Danville; his step mother, Carol Starr; a half sister, Jeanne Banz and a half brother, Jay Starr, all of Maine; his mother-in-law, Mabel Haas, who resided with him; and a special aunt, Jean Schenck, Danville.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services or viewing. A memorial service will be held in the future at a time and place to be announced. Friends may remember Bill with a contribution to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roar-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.
