Wayne Richard Farver, Sr

Wayne Richard Farver, Sr., age 81, 721 Saw Mill Road, Bloomsburg, died at 2:35 p. m. Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient. He was in failing health since August.

Born in Berwick on August 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Arle Robert and Verna (Davis) Farver. He was a 1954 graduate of Berwick High School and resided in the Lightstreet area since 1969.

Wayne was employed as a maintenance repairman at Bloomsburg University for 21 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church; the Brookside Hunting Lodge; Orangeville Sportsmans Club; and the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.

Wayne looked forward to his daily morning coffee group at Denny's Restaurant. He was particularly fond of his beagle, Jack.

Wayne proudly served with the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from Nov. 4, 1954 until November 3, 1958 when he transfered to the Marine Corps Reserves, serving for an additional three years, until Aug. 19, 1961.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Farver, Charles Farver, Jack Farver; and by two sisters: Lois Laubach and Barbara Berroth.

Surviving are his wife, the former Donna Dent, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary  on March 10, 2017; a son, Wayne Richard Farver, Jr., and his wife Lori, Orangeville; a daughter, Brenda J. Farver, Almedia; four grandchildren: Austin Farver, State College; Aaron Farver and Alec Farver, Orangeville; Ben Kostes, Almedia; three brothers: James Farver, and his wife Beverly, Berwick; Joe Farver, and his wife Dawn, Berwick; Terry Farver, Berwick; Nancy Reichart, Rochester, New York; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
