Warren L. Glidewell

Warren L. Glidewell, age 77, 429 Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg died at 8 p. m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016,  at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where he was a patient for two months. He had been in declining health for 18 years.

Born in Bloomsburg on November 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Warren T. and Doris (Woodside) Glidewell. His early life was spent in the Unityville area and he  was a 1957 graduate of Millville High School. He resided at his present home for 14 years and previously lived on Millville Road, Bloomsburg for many years.

Warren was  last employed  by Wise Snack Foods, Berwick, where he was employed for 14 years before retiring in 1998. Prior to that he was employed by the former Reading Terminal Meat Market, Bloomsburg, as the manager for 22 years. Throughout his working life he was a farmer, working on the family farm in Unityville whenever he had spare time.

He was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg.

Warren is survived by his wife, the former Ellen A. Kile, with whom he celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary on September 23, 2016; a daughter, Susan M., wife of Steven Bennett, Orangeville; a granddaughter, Kelsey L. Bennett and a grandson, Zachary M. Bennett, both of Orangeville; a step-grandson, Preston Bennett, Buckhorn; a sister, Beverly Jane Mead, Unityville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Glidewell in 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Steven C. Hummel, officiating. Interment in Salem Cemetery, Unityville. Viewing Friday from 9-10 a. m.  The family will provide flowers.

He will be missed. He was always happy to visit when you would see him out and about. He and Ellen enjoyed watching the horsepulls.
