Thomas W. Elmes, age 77, of Kingsley Ave, Danville, passed away on Wednesday September 9, 2026 at his home.
Born on December 28, 1948 in Mahoning Twp., Montour Co., he was the son of the late Walter and Betty (Morgan) Elmes. A 1967 graduate of Danville High School, he was a lifelong resident of the Danville area.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War in the explosive ordinance disposal unit.
Thomas was a truck driver for several companies over the span of 35 years. He was last employed for Rich Oil Company and had previously worked for Friedman’s Chemical Leaman.
He was a member of the Danville American Legion Post 40.
Thomas was of Baptist faith. He was an avid fisherman and scuba diver.
Surviving is his wife, the former Jeannette Jones, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on August 27, 2026; daughter, Holly, wife of John Haas, of Union, South Carolina; granddaughter, Dana, wife of William Gavin, of Lyman, South Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly Gavin and Garett Gavin.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday September 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Rd., Bloomsburg, with military honors performed by the U.S. Navy and Post 40 American Legion honor guard. Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt, of First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville.
