Stephen Levan, Jr.

Stephen Levan, Jr., age 69, of 321 Summer Hill Ave., Berwick, died at his home at 4:38 p. m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.

Born in Berwick on August 24, 1950, he was a son of the late Stephen, Sr., and Florence (Matlock) Levan. He was a lifelong resident of the Berwick area and a 1968 graduate of Berwick High School.

Stephen was employed as a welder by the former Berwick Forge and Fabricating Co. until it closed.

He was a member of the First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 541, Catawissa; Valley of Bloomsburg, American Legion Post 273; Berwick VFW Post; Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW, Bloomsburg; and the Marine Corps League of Berwick. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the Amateur Radio Club.

Stephen served with the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Donna (Shoemaker) Levan; a sister, Ginger Levan and a brother, James Levan.

He is survived by his wife, the former Cleota Auchter and a brother Mark Levan in Colorado.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a. m. in the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick, where military honors will be performed by the combined VFW and American Legion group. Friends will be received at the Church from 10 – 11 a. m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in his memory to the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
