Stafford G. Ley, age 69, of Stevens Hill Road, Benton, died on Saturday evening, May 6, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 13, 1953, he was a son of the late Stafford and Janet (Davis) Ley. He resided in Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County for the past three years and previously lived in Indiana. He was a 1971 graduate of Elmer E. Myers High School in Wilkes-Barre.
Stafford was employed as a manager by various businesses in his working career and last worked for Auto Zone in Indiana.
He was a member of the Firwood United Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre. He enjoyed fishing and raising Doberman Pincher dogs, He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State football teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally Wells.
Stafford is survived by his wife, the former Darlene Hopta, with whom he would have observed their 25th wedding anniversary on October 30, 2023; two sons: Stafford Ley and his wife Brandi of Mill Hall and Colby Ley and his significant other Whitney of Monroe City, Indiana; two step-daughters: Tara wife of Rod Tossari of Shamokin and Traci Shingara of Bear Gap; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a cousin and best friend, Carrie James of Tunkhannock.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
