Shirley M. (Fiedler) Cunningham

Shirley M. (Fiedler) Cunningham, age 91, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2026 at the Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Scott Township.

Born on October 3, 1934 in Greenburr, Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late George F., Sr. and Dorothy E. (Bressler) Fiedler. A 1952 graduate of Bloomsburg High School, she resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1943. She formerly resided in Clinton County.

Shirley was employed at J.C. Penney in Bloomsburg for 18 ½ years prior to retiring in December 1996.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg for over 60 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the altar committee.

Shirley delivered Meals on Wheels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Hugh D. Cunningham, on November 22, 2002; and two brothers, Darwin C. Fiedler in December 1956 and George L. Fiedler, Jr., in February 2003.

Surviving is her daughter, Hayley Nelson, and her fiancé Joel Massey, of Merriman, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Karla, Zachary, Jasmine, and Austin; three great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Burket, of Bloomsburg; and sister-in-law, June Leiby, of Danville.

Funeral services will be held on Monday August 10, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with pastor Donald McCaulley, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
