Sara E. Tubbs

Sara E. Tubbs, age 99, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Scott Township, where she resided for six years.

Born in  Jamison City, Sugarloaf Township on June 21, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Mace A. and Cora N. (Cole) Tubbs.  She resided in Bloomsburg since 1920 and in the same home for 78 ½ years  on West Third Street  before moving to the Bloomsburg Towers in 1999.

Sara was a 1935 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and a 1939 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College.

She was employed for a number of years by the former Bloomsburg Chamber of Commerce and the former McDowell Oil Co. After that she was employed at various places, last working at the Area Agency on Aging, retiring in 1987.

Sara was a faithful member of the Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church.  Before entering nursing care, she attended the Bloomsburg Senior Center. She was a member of AARP and the Bloomsburg Historical & Genealogical Society for many years,.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, R. Alene Dunlap and a brother, J. Dean Tubbs.

Sara is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a. m. in the Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church, 706 Central Road, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. John D. Kolenda officiating. Interment will follow in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. Viewing at the Church from 9 - 9:30 a. m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
