Salvatore J. Marrazzo

Salvatore John Marrazzo, age 84, passed away on June 30, 2016 with his wife, Ida at his side. A devout Roman Catholic, he now rests in peace with our Lord, our God, Jesus Christ. Dad will be missed by all.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Fioravanti and Vincenza (Gambardella) Marrazzo.

Sal retired from the New York City Transit Authority, and in 1984 he and Ida opened and operated Marrazzo’s Pizza in Wyalusing until 1998 when they relocated to Buckhorn to be close to their children.

Dad was a Korean war veteran. He enjoyed watching Fox news, discussing politics and religion, and was a strong supporter of the second amendment. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He liked playing the PA lottery daily, and was always quick to tell jokes to all, even though they were not always politically correct.

He enjoyed holidays and any event that brought his family all together; and he was the grandparent who taught all of the grandchildren how to play seven card rummy and poker without wild cards; and of course, he loved Mom’s Italian cooking.

Surviving is his loving wife, the former Ida Amato, whom he married on July 21, 1956; four children: Sally A., wife of Gary Shipierski, Mountain Top; Salvatore F. Marrazzo, wife Tracy, Dimock; Michael J. Marrazzo, wife Theresa, New Tripoli and Anthony J. Marrazzo, wife Rebekah L., Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren: Tony and Maria Morgante; Annilese, Alex, Gina, Michael, Luke and Alexis Marrazzo.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing at the funeral home tonight (Friday) from 6-8 p.m., with a time of prayer and reflection at 7:45 p.m.

Ida, so sorry to read of Sal's passing. Haven't seen you folks in years---but have often thought of all of you. I remember the days when I use to go over for lunch. Also, remember the times that Sal played his lottery numbers. Love to you all! Virginia

I am sad to hear of Sal's passing. I was a regular customer at the family's Wyalusing pizza and sub shop and loved visiting with Sal and Ida. What a colorful guy he was. My condolences to his family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Mom enjoyed talking to him about our Faith. We wish we could have met him and your mom. Having lost my father 18 months ago, I know what you are going through and we wish we were close enough to be able to attend his funeral. With love and prayers, Laura and Evelyn Mason

Dear Ida, and family,
How sad we are to hear about Sal's passing. May you be comforted by the memory of his love for the Faith, and of course, his love for you all. What a kind soul he was. It was an honor to know him. Eternal rest grant unto Sal, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
God bless you all.
