Salome L Slusser
Salome L. (Bankes) Slusser, age 85, 0f 86 Krick Road, Milton, died at her home at 4:24 p. m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 after an illness.
Born in Beaver Township on October 3, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary E. (Hontz) Bankes. She resided at her present address for eight years and formerly lived in Mifflinville for many years. She was a graduate of the former Beaver Township High School.
Salome worked in various garment factories for many years before retiring.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mifflinville and a life member and longtime treasurer of the Black Creek Sportsman’s Club. Her hobby was collecting bells and she enjoyed traveling with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert S. Slusser on April 12, 2010; two daughters: Teresa Slusser and Sherri Slusser; a son, Ricky A. Slusser; three brothers: Daniel “Duke” Bankes, Ralph Bankes, Thomas "Joe" Bankes; and by two sisters: Violet Zapach and Mary Slusser.
Salome is survived by two daughters: Pamela, wife of John Nunamaker, with whom she last resided and Rhonda, wife of Charles Lewis, IV, Danville; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Shirley Ackley, Donna Yutko and Patricia, wife of Albert Bellum, all of Bloomsburg; two brothers: Robert “Spike” Bankes and his wife Donna and David Bankes and his wife Donna, all of Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Chad Hebrink, interim pastor of her Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call from 1-2 p. m.
