Ruth Mae (Snyder) Cotner, age 93, of 606 Valley Road, Danville (Grovania) died Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2020, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where she was a patient.

Born in Cleveland Township, Columbia County on November 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Amos V. and Froney A. (Johnson) Snyder. She resided in Grovania since 1946.

Ruth worked as a waitress in several Area restaurants early in her life and later she was employed at the former Emenee Shirt Factory, Catawissa for 18 years.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Grovania. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Archery Club and was very active in the Northeast Pennsylvania Archery Conference. She was a life member of the Berwick Archery Club and an honorary member of the Pennsylvania State Archery Association.

Ruth enjoyed being with her family and especially enjoyed being outdoors with them, hunting, fishing and camping. She loved to attend area fire company carnivals and going to the Bloomsburg Fair. She only missed the fair the first year she was born. The past six years she enjoyed doing word search puzzles and adult coloring.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Cotner, on March 13, 1995. His death severed a marital union of 49 years, having been married to him on June 1, 1946; a daughter Linda Kopidlowski on January 29, 2014, her son, Wayne B. Cotner on January 10, 2015 and her brother, Carl Snyder on April 26, 1982.

Surviving are a daughter, Darla M. Cotner, who resided with her; two brothers: Robert Snyder, and his wife Doris, Bloomsburg and Galen Snyder, Flemington, New Jersey; three sisters: Betty, wife of David Harter, Bloomsburg, Doris Davenport, Catawissa, Bess Krist, Danville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Gretchen M. Johanson officiating.  Private interment for the immediate family will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. A viewing will be held from 12 to 2 p. m.  The family requests those attending to dress casually.

Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of the donor’s choice.
