Ruth Ann Bower, age 83, 67 Upper Woodcrest Road, Berwick, died at her home at 5:30 p. m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 after having been in ill health since April.

Ruth Ann was last employed as the secretary -treasurer of two family owned businesses: Car-Mar, Inc. and General Tank, Inc. Earlier in her life she was employed by Wise Snack Foods.

She came from a simple country life, with ambition to become a world traveler, and she was certainly accomplished. She married Carl G. Bower on June 9, 1950 and together they created a family and home next to none. Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: David A. Bower, and his wife Marion, Gettysburg; Daniel L. Bower, and his wife Peggy, Conyngham; Richard C. Bower, Berwick; five grandchildren:  William Edward Bower; Justin C. Bower;  Lindsey L. Bower; Andrew R. Bower; Shelby L. Bower; and two brothers: Carl Sponenberg, Greenwood, South Carolina and Sam Sponenberg, and his wife Rosalie, Hillsborough, New Jersey.
