Robert L. Swank

Robert L. Swank, age 87, of Monroe Ave., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), died on Wednesday September 23, 2026 at The Gardens at Orangeville.

Born on July 25, 1939 in Sullivan County, he was the son of the late Lester and Pauline (Yeager) Swank. He resided in Lightstreet since 2000 and formerly resided in the Unityville area.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a mechanic by trade.

Robert was a former member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth A. (Whitaker) Swank on June 21, 1993 and by a granddaughter, Sophia Shoemaker on August 25, 2026.

Surviving is his wife, the former Margaret James, with whom he celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2026; daughter, Wendy, wife of Randy Meyers, of Hughesville; son, Matthew Swank, and his wife Roberta, of Brunswick, Ohio; daughter, Jeri Shoemaker, of Hughesville; stepdaughter, Melissa, wife of Darin Gallie, of Hartsville, South Carolina; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving sibling out of eleven.

Graveside services will be held on Monday September 28, 2026 at 2 p.m. in Gordner’s Cemetery, Unityville, with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
