Robert W. "Bobby" Corey

Robert W. “Bobby” Corey, age 65, of 938 Cherry Street, Danville, died peacefully at 7 p. m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, one week shy of the third anniversary of his dad’s passing.

The world was blessed with Bobby the day he was born, March 26, 1953, at Geisinger Hospital, the son of Mary G.  (Montague) Corey and the late William D. Corey.  He had 65 years filled with love from his family and friends.

Everyone knew Bobby, wherever he went someone would say “Hi Bobby”. In his younger years he had a three wheel bicycle, which he rode up and  down Cherry Street. He would sit at the corner of Cherry and Center Streets greeting the people coming and going to Geisinger. To this day many people still remember him sitting there.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Danville.

Bobby was a great fan of all  sports in Danville. On many hot summer nights his parents would take him to the Little League games, sometimes as often 3 or 4 times in one week. He especially loved going to the Friday night Danville football games with his dad and sister. He was a loyal fan of the New York Mets through the good years and the bad.

His sister always made sure they had three road trips every year: they were to the Little League World Series, Knoebel’s Amusement Park and the Bloomsburg Fair. He was lucky enough this past year to make it to Knoebel’s and the Bloomsburg Fair.

In 2015 he joined the group at ”Life Geisinger” in Kulpmont where he went three days  each week. He loved the time spent there because he was able to be with his friends and all the staff, especially his friend Bill who played pinochle with him. When he spoke to people, he was always sure to tell them about going to Life Geisinger.

About 15 years ago he was the Grand Marshall of the Danville Halloween parade and it was ironic that he died on the day of the 2018 parade.

In February, 2018,  he went to live at Grandview Health and Rehabilitation Center. If you needed to find Bobby, you would find him sitting in the lobby with his friends. His favorite activity was playing bingo and pinochle.

On Wednesday’s, he would go to the Danville Area Community Center where his sister is employed. He loved to talk to all the people coming in for classes. Bobby especially loved to see his friends, Dave, Pete and Ken,   who would come and sit with him and talk about anything and everything. He also loved to sit behind the front desk because he thought he was helping his sister.

Surviving in addition to his mother, who currently resides at Grandview, is his sister, Suzanne, wife of James Musselman, Danville; a nephew, Richard B. Campbell, Columbus, Ohio; a niece,  Stephanie, wife of Zadoc Brown, Maui, Hawaii; a great-niece, Kristin Campbell; two great-nephews: Zadoc Brown and Declan Brown; a great-great-niece, Callie Campbell; and an Aunt, Florence Zimmerman, Sunbury.

A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate contributions to his two favorite places: Life Geisinger, 1100 Spruce Street, #100, Kulpmont, PA 17834 or the  Danville Area Community Center, 1041 Liberty Street, Danville, PA 17821.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
