Robert A. "Bob" Cooke, Sr.

Robert A. “Bob” Cooke, Sr., age 82, formerly of Stony Brook Circle, Orangeville, died Saturday afternoon, Sept, 12, 2020, at Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Scott Township where he resided since June 2, 2018.

Born in Canton, Mass. On June 20, 1938, he was a son of the late Harold R. and Arlene M. (Whitcomb) Cooke. He resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1969.

Bob was employed by PA Dept. of Welfare as a caseworker for 15 years, retiring in 1988 due to health issues.

A baptized Catholic, he had attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Berwick.

Bob loved watching birds, especially hummingbirds and also enjoyed playing cards. For many years he wintered in Ocala, Florida. He was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion and served his country by serving with the U. S. Navy during the 1950’s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Robert A. Cooke, Jr. on Feb. 4, 2015 and Peter A. Cooke on May 15, 2015; by six siblings and a former wife and friend, Sophia (June) Villa Cooke.

Bob is survived by three children: Steven C. Cooke, and his wife Renee, Bloomsburg; Jeanne M. Cooke, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Brian E. Cooke, and his wife Lisa, Bloomsburg; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Richard Cooke, Sr., Sandy Hook, Conn. and Carlton Cooke, Sr., and his wife Noreen, Southbury, Conn.; two step-daughters: Susan Uram and Rose Ellen Moore; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; and his former wife and mother of his five children, Jeanine P. Waters, Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with military honors by the combined VFW and American Legion honor guard. Viewing from 10 to 11 a. m.
