Rita M. "Snook" Harris

Rita M. “Snook” Harris, age 94, formerly of Red Maple Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 4:20 p. m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing, Danville, where she was a patient since January 3, 2018. She previously resided at Brookdale Senior Living Center, Bloomsburg for four and a half years.

Born on October 9, 1923 in Dornsife, Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Llewellyn A. and Mary H. (Troutman) Wilkinson. She graduated from the former Lower Mahanoy Township High School in 1941.

Rita resided in  Almedia from 1970 to 2013 and earlier lived in New Cumberland for 13 years.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg and a former member of the Christian Women’s Club, the Almedia Homemakers and the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Harris on  May 4, 2013 and by a brother, Robert L. Wilkinson.

Rita is survived by her son, G. Michael Harris, and his wife Mollie, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Rose Anne, wife of George Leavesley, Littleton, Colorado; and two grandchildren: Brian Leavesley and Megan Harris. She is the last of her immediate family.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Stone Valley Cemetery, Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
