Rita M. (Steel) Cox
Rita M. (Steel) Cox, age 82, died at 7:15 a. m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Berwick Retirement Village II, where she was a resident since October 6, 2006.
Born in Benton on August 17, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Corneilson) Steel. She lived in Philadelphia most of her life.
Rita was a homemaker. She loved her animals and enjoyed playing bingo and doing arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cox, Sr.; two sons, Charles Cox, Jr. and David Cox; brothers LaRue Stump and Lamar Shoemaker. She also had one sister, Mrs. Evans.
Surviving are her nephews, LaRue Shoemaker and Larry Shoemaker; nieces Lynnell Cromer, Leslie Difebo, Debbie Shoemaker, and Kathy Shiko . She is also survived by great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Dutch Hill Cemetery with Rev. Allen F. Acor, officiating. The Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
