Richard W. Snyder, III , age 66, of 887 W. Valley Ave., Elysburg, died at 11:41 p. m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient.

Born in Newport News, Virginia on May 16, 1953, he was the son of the late Richard W., Jr. and Peggy M. (Jones) Snyder. He was a1971 graduate of Southern Area High School.

Richard was a resident of Elysburg for 12 years and previously lived in Catawissa.

He served with the U. S Army for twenty years and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following retirement from the military he was employed by Columbia County as a corrections officer at the Columbia County  jail and then at the State Correctional Institution at Frackville.  He was last employed part-time  by Joe and Jan's  Bus Service, driving a van at Geisinger Medical Center.

He was an avid Harley Davidson  motorcyclist and one of the founding members of the Pridfe MC National Correctional Employee Motor Cycle Club. He traveled extensively on his motorcycle. Spending time with his family was very important to him.

Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy J. Zimmerman, with whom he observed his  twelveth wedding anniversary on June 30, 2019; three sons: Renn Snyder, New Mexico; Casey Snyder, Michigan; Tucker Snyder, New Mexico; an adopted son, Andy Seibert, and his wife Bobbi, Sunbury; a daughter, Candi George, Allentown; six grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a brother, Eugene Snyder, and his wife MaryJo, Arizona; three sisters: Lucille "Sis", wife of Tony Curio, Catawissa; Evelyn, wife of Angelo Horn, Willcox, Ariz.; Debra Dawalt, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, t 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Pastor Ferdie  R. Madara of Calvary Bible Fellowship, Shamokin, officiating. The combined VFW and American Legion veterans group will provide military services. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service.
