Richard C. “Dick” Hess, age 84, 29 Hedge Road, Bloomsburg, died at 11:20 a. m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Kingston on April 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Carleton C. and Helen (Runyan) Hess. His early life was spent in Jonestown and much of his adult life he was in the Bloomsburg area.

Dick was a mechanic by trade working at J&B Honda and Speed and Sport.  He was last employed part-time by Chip Adams Sewer and Drain Service, last working a week before his death.

He served briefly with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Catawissa Post 541, American Legion and the Sunbury Social Club.

Dick was always active, enjoying water skiing, motorcycling and drove a stockcar at the Selinsgrove Speedway. One New Years day he water skied barefoot on the Susquehanna River. He also participated in a motorcycle hill climb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Hess.

Surviving are a son, Ricky Lee Hess, Port Carbon; a daughter, Donna Hess and her fiance Kurt Alvater, Catawissa; two grandsons, Austin Colosimo and Hunter Colosimo, both of Catawissa; a nephew, Curtis Hess, and his wife Penny, Mount Carmel and their children, Deanna and Devin.

A Celebration of His Life gathering will be held on Sunday, August 16 at 2:00 PM at The Fire Pit Campground (former Shady Rest) near Eyers Grove with Reverend Steven C. Hummel, pastor of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ officiating.
