Phyllis Ann Philipkoski

Phyllis Ann (Bowen) Philipkoski, age 79, of 62 Oak Street, Danville, died at 12:10 p. m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019,  at Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville.

She was born on October 5, 1939 in Scranton, a daughter of the late John and Doretta (Phillips) Bowen.  She graduated from West Scranton High School in 1957 and went on to receive her registered nursing degree from the former Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing in Danville.

Phyllis enjoyed a long and  productive career as a nurse at Geisinger, Danville State Hospital, Grandview Nursing Home and Bloomsburg Hospital. She especially enjoyed  caring for elderly patients. She was also employed by dentists, John  and Erin Brokenshire of Danville.

She was a 50 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mahoning Township.

Phyllis is survived by her husband,  Richard A. Philipkoski, whom she married at the church on August 6, 1976. Tuesday was their 43rd wedding anniversary. Also surviving are a  daughter, Kristen Philipkoski, and her husband Kourosh  Karimkhany and a granddaughter Frida Karimkhany, all of Pacifica, Calif.

Additional survivors  are her sisters-in-law, Eileen, Gloria and Norma Bowen who live in the Scranton area;  her brother-in-law, Dennis Philipkoski and his wife Phyllis of New Hartford, New York, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her  brothers John, Floyd, Chester, and  Robert Bowen, whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in Trinity United Methodist Church, 84 Lombard Ave., Danville, with her former pastor, Rev. Ronald S. French officiating. Viewing will be on Monday from 9:30 a. m. until the time of the service at 11 a. m. Interment will be made in Cathedral Cemetery Scranton on Tuesday.
