Peter Mastroianni passed away peacefully at his Rohrsburg home on March 21, two days after the 50th anniversary of meeting his future wife, and three months before his 80th birthday.
Peter attended Penn State before graduating the Philadelphia College of Art with a BFA in Ceramics. His career in sculpting, modelmaking, and reproduction spanned the fields of fine arts, industrial reproduction, and medical advancements.
Much of Peter's work was self-employment as the Millville-based Sweet Valley Artisans, which he co-founded with his wife, after contributions to the porcelain divisions of the Franklin Mint and Lenox Collections. You may encounter his material mastery if you use a mannequin in health care education or ride a mechanical bull.
His public service included terms as Greenwood Township committeeman, leadership of the Fishing Creek Watershed Association, communications for the Columbia County Democratic Party, and a founding share in the Benton Area Rodeo Association & Special Kids Roundup.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Leslie, and his son/colleague, Michael. He will be remembered for the kind and humorous moments he created, including his letters to the Press-Enterprise, and his dedicated guardianship of the American Dream.
A memorial service will be held at Beth Israel Synagogue, 144 E. 4th St., Bloomsburg on Saturday, April 11 at 5 p.m. Donations welcomed in his honor for Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry shareourstrength.org
