Paul L. Thomas, II, age 80, of 101 Nottingham Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 12:27 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Born in Bloomsburg on August 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Paul L. Sr. and Dorothy (Sorber) Thomas. He attended the Scott Township schools and later attended a trade school in Williamsport.

Paul was employed as a truck driver for the former Friedman Express and later for Yellow Freight, retiring after 30 years of driving. He loved driving truck, making deliveries and meeting people. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, and a social member of American Legion Post 273, Bloomsburg.

In addition to his family, Paul loved camping, working on model trains, tinkering in his garage, repairing shoes and working at the Bloomsburg Fair. He especially looked forward to his daily coffee trips with his friends. Anyone who knew Paul knew he was a gentle, kind and loving man, always willing to help family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Olivia May, on March 10, 2011.

On July 22, 1961, Paul married his wife, the former Jacqueline “Jackie” Wichurowski, at St. Stanislaus Church in Shamokin. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are two daughters: Christine, wife of Robert Lutsky, Bloomsburg and Paula, wife of Glenn Beckley, Berwick; a son, Paul L. Thomas, III, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Robert, Jr. and his wife Julie, Christopher, Megan and her husband Jason, Joseph, Paul IV, and Vanessa; five great-grandchildren: Boone, Wyatt, Emmett, Jessa and Rowan;  a sister, Brenda, wife of William H. Benscoter, Berwick; two brothers: Mark W. Thomas, and his wife Sandra, Danville and Dale L. Thomas, and his wife Debbie, Orangeville and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Grovania.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels or the Area Agency on Aging, 702 Sawmill Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
