Ora E. Karns

Ora E. (Karns) Karns, age 103 formerly of Lightstreet and Stillwater died at 4:10 p. m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg, where she resided for eight years.

Born on February 27, 1913 in Benton Township, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Rhoda (Conner) Karns. She resided in Benton Township most of her life, moving to Lightstreet in 1976

Ora was employed by the former Harrison’s IGA Store in Benton for 22 years, retiring in 1976. After moving to Lightstreet, she worked at the Lightstreet Hotel for three years and last for the Green Thumb Program at Bloomsburg University, working there for four years before retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church.

Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. “Shorty” Karns on October 27, 1980; by two brothers: Clyde Karns and Bruce Karns; and by three sisters: Atta M. Hess; Claris T. Hartman; and Belva Kester.

The last of her immediate family, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held next Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10:30 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with longtime friend, Pastor James E. Harvey of the Lungerville Christian Church officiating. Interment in Benton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
