Norman Gene Carney, age 89, 3023 Woods Edge Drive, Bloomsburg died at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Danville on Saturday evening, December 31, 2022.
Born in Sherman, Texas on February 3, 1933, he was a son of the late Austin and Lowrene (McKnight) Carney. He was a 1951 graduate of Colorado City, Texas High School. He resided in Orange Township for 21 years.
Gene was employed as a supervisor by Ebasco, Corp building power plants and had worked here earlier in building the Susquehanna Steam Electric Plant at Washington Bill.
In his earlier years he enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Gene Carney and two grandsons, Timothy Max Carney and Austin Charles Carney.
Surviving is his wife, the former Nelda F. Marshall, with whom he observed their 71st wedding anniversary on March 3, 2022, a son, William Max Carney and his wife Mary of Bloomsburg; two grandsons, Michael Carney of Bloomsburg and Matthew Carney and his significant other Amber of Thorndale.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
