Nicholas Paul Mariano

Nicholas Paul Mariano, age 29, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home.

Born at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, on November 2, 1987, he was the son of Martin P. and Beverly A. (Sacavage) Mariano of Bloomsburg.

Nick was a 2006 graduate of Central Columbia High School and attended Philadelphia University and Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, studying in architectural and construction management.

He worked for his family’s business as a project manager and also operated his own business, Mariano Properties, where he oversaw several local jobs as head contractor. He loved his work and enjoyed both the hands on experience of a working construction site, as well as the development  and design of the building process.

Nick enjoyed many hobbies. He loved tinkering with computers and design software, golfing, skiing, and weightlifting to name a few. He also played the guitar. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Area YMCA and served on the planning board. He could often be seen at the  YMCA working out with various friends.  Nick, along with his father,  enjoyed a passion for antique, classic and sports cars. On a sunny day he could be seen driving around town on his motorcycle.

Nick also enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite places included hiking and skiing in Utah, sightseeing in Italy and spending time with his family and friends at the beach in South Carolina.

A devout Christian, Nick attended St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg and had recently become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Berwick Ward. He took immense joy in his interactions with members of both churches.

Nick will be remembered in our hearts as a loving son, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Sacavage, his paternal grandfather, Albert Mariano and his uncle, Brian Mariano.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Amanda, wife of Brian Nungesser; a niece Stella; his paternal grandmother, Janette Mariano, all of Bloomsburg; his significant other, Heather Todd, Salt Lake City, Utah; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved pets, Maggie and Ruby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
