Nancy J. (Hunsinger) Newhart, age 85, of Bloomsburg (Espy), passed away early Thursday June 27, 2024 at her home after an illness while under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Born on August 22, 1938 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Francis (Evans) Hunsinger. She was a 1957 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and spent her lifetime in the Bloomsburg area.
Prior to retiring, Nancy was employed by Bloomsburg Carpet Industries as a designer for many years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 273 in Bloomsburg.
Nancy was an artist who loved to make beautiful paintings. She enjoyed riding bicycle with her husband and loved to travel. She visited 49 out of 50 states (except for Alaska), and especially enjoyed traveling in western United States.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Hunsinger, and Lloyd “Butch” Hunsinger; and five sisters, Shirley Titman, Rosalie “Rosie” Newhart, Francis “Fran” Swisher, Sara Girton, and Hazel Girton.
Surviving is her husband, Kenneth E. Newhart, with whom she observed their 66th wedding anniversary on March 22, 2024; three children: Keith Newhart, and his wife Renae, of Orangeville, Steve Newhart, and his wife Nancy, of Berwick, and Janice Bittner, of Catawissa; five grandchildren: Alyshia Newhart, Josh Newhart, and his wife Marisa, Jessica Bittner, Tarah Riddle, and Tessa Binversie; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Hunsinger, and his fiancé Jean Artley, of Mainville, and Bruce Hunsinger, and wife Donna; and several nieces and nephews.
At Nancy’s request, there will be no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
