Mildred Mae "Millie" Shafer

Mildred M. "Millie" Shafer, age 94, 5 Paul Road, New Castle, Delaware, died at her home early Monday, December 18, 2017.

Born in Main Township on June 6, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Carrie (Young) Campbell. She lived in Bloomsburg until moving to Bear, Delaware in 1957 where she remained until moving to New Castle in 2012.

Millie was employed at the former Columbia Silk Mill for 20  years early in her life. She loved flowers and especially her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, L. V. Shafer, on December 9, 2000. Also preceding her in death were two step sons: Ted D. Shafer and Loel Shafer; a sister, Dorothy Gause; and two brothers: Robert Campbell and Edwin Campbell.

Millie is survived by  her daughter, Doris I. Davis, with whom she last resided; a step daughter, Betty Shafer, Millville; two grandchildren: Mark McCracken, Bear, Del. and Sheri, wife of Thomas Metschan, Milwaukee, Oregon; a great-grandson, Mark McCracken, II, Bear, Del; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Warren Hartly, Del.;  3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Singley, Bloomsburg; a step daughter in law, Linda Shafer, Florida and ten nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Clevie Bell, pastor of Liberty Fellowship Church, New Castle, Del. officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 a. m.
