Michael A. Kocan

Michael A. “Mike” Kocan, 68, of Woodside Dive, Millville died unexpectedly at his cabin on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025 in Garland.

Born on January 12, 1957 in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Gula) Kocan. He was a 1974 graduate of Southmoreland High School in Alverton. He attended Penn State University - Fayette in Uniontown, majoring in Health Physics. 

Mike was employed by Talen Energy Corporation Susquehanna in Salem Township for 20 years as a Health Physics Technician.

He was a member of the Scottdale Elks Lodge 777 and Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion. He enjoyed working on cars, snowmobiling, dirt bikes, working in his yard and was an avid reader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna Beall Kocan.

Surviving are his wife, the former Cynthia Schroyer, with whom he observed their 33rd wedding anniversary on June 20, 2025; two sons: Jacob Kocan and his wife Maddie of Bloomsburg and Nicholas Kocan, Millville; a daughter, Mikayla Kocan, of Danville; five siblings: Mark Kocan and his partner, Lisa Case, of Mechanicsburg, Jeffery Kocan and his wife Pattea of San Luis Obispo, California, Marie Webb of Milford, Delaware, Larry Moore and his wife Kathy of Uniontown, Mary Ann (Moore) wife of John Runner of Newark, Ohio and a number of nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025 from 1-2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
