Michael J. Baranaskas
Michael J. Baranaskas, age 61, of 956 West Main St., Bloomsburg, died peacefully at his home early Thursday October 20, 2022 after an illness.
Born in Mahoning Twp., Montour Co., on July 27, 1961, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Leah M. (Spangler) Baranaskas.
He was a 1979 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for 21 years, retiring on August 31, 2000 with the rank of MSgt.
Following his military service, he was employed by Columbia Industries in Berwick for 22 years, last working in September.
He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg.
Michael loved to read and was an excellent cook. He was a member of the former Columbia Moose Lodge and also of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436.
Surviving are seven siblings: Charlene Knorr, of Bloomsburg, Carolene Glenn, of St. Augustine, FL, Maria M. Imholt, of Pensacola, FL, Edward H. Baranaskas, Jr., of Philippines, Debra M. Cooper, Front Royal, VA, Stephen L. Baranaskas, of Catonsville, MD, and Nancy C. Baranaskas, of Brookville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by Rev. Richard J. Mowery. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the combined VFW and American Legion honor guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Brighter Christmas Fund c/o Press Enterprise, 3185 Lackawanna Ave., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.

One of the best times of the day is when I talked to Mike and we got to laughing - and I mean LAUGHING! He was always so serious and this only happened in these past five years or so. It was so fun!! Kidding aside, he will be missed.
