Martin G. Simons

Martin G. Simons, age 68, East Fourth St., Bloomsburg, died on Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, shortly after being admitted.

Born in Bloomsburg on May 1, 1951, he was a son of the late John R. and Beverly J. (Evans) Simons. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1969 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Marty was a bricklayer by trade and worked through the Bricklayers Union, Local 5, Harrisburg.

A member of St. Columba Catholic Church, he also served as a member of the Columbia County Democratic Party committee, and was a social member the Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.

“Uncle Marty” as he  was known to the  many who knew and loved him, was always there to help those in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Paul Simons.

Marty is survived by two brothers: John J. Simons, and his wife Gloria, Stuart, Fla. And William R. Simons, and his wife Dorothy, Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters: Mary, wife of Gordon Reichart, Lightstreet and Christine Lazuta, Bradenton, Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.

In lieu of flowers, friends may send contributions to Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW,  1258 Millville Rd., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
