Marlene Marie Pawlowski

Marlene Marie Pawlowski, age 87, of Lake Nuangola, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.

Marlene was born in Glen Lyon, PA on July 8, 1938, to Theodore and Marcella (Lipsky) Pawlowski. She graduated from Newport Township High School and Mount Holyoke College and got her MA in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania. 

She was a strong advocate for women’s rights and acted as a role model for female entrepreneurs by operating her own business as a city planning consultant in Wilkes-Barre for many years. 

She studied ballet under Jozia Mieszkowski in the 1970’s, enjoyed music, especially opera, throughout her life, was an avid swimmer at Lake Nuangola and loved her many pets. She also enjoyed volunteering for the SPCA and for the Northeastern Philharmonic.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Marcella (Lipsky) Pawlowski and her brother, Theodore, in infancy. She is survived by her twin sister, Eileen Birk, her siblings, Janet Wedge and Ron Pawlowski, her nieces and nephews, Cathy Miranker, William and Elizabeth Wedge, Ted, Rob, Amanda and Lou Birk, Helene Hanlin and Dianne Kolodziejski and her many grand-nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.

Services and interment will be private. Marlene will be buried at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Glen Lyon, PA.

Donations in Marlene’s memory can be made to the SPCA at 524 E. Main St, Wilkes Barre, PA 18702, the Northeast Philharmonic at 195 Hanover St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 or the Kirby Library at 35 Kirby Avenue, Mountaintop, PA 18707.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
