Marjorie E. (Sweet) Shoemaker, age 83, of 10 E. Tenth St., Bloomsburg, died at 12:13 a. m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2019 at the Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation Center, where she was a patient for three weeks.

Born on Feb. 15, 1936 in Nescopeck Township, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert W. and Florence A. (Naugle) Sweet. She spent much of her early life in the Derr’s area before moving to Bloomsburg a number of years ago. She was a 1956 graduate of Benton High School.

Marjorie was last employed at Wolfey’s Miniature Golf Course in South Centre Township and earlier assisted the Jackson Township Tax Collector, Martha Starr, in her tax office. Later she assisted senior citizen’s in doing their tax returns at area senior centers.

She was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church at Derr’s. She also belonged to the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Shoemaker on March 10, 2017, severing a marital span of 60 years; by a daughter, Margaret Adeline Shoemaker on March 8, 1965; by a son-in-law, Jeffrey L. Stackhouse on June 6, 2015; and by a sister, Esther M. Walker.

Marjorie is survived by a son, Franklin J. Shoemaker, and his wife Denise, Unityville; a daughter, Alicia M. Stackhouse, who resided with her; four grandchildren: Matthew A. Stackhouse, Stillwater; Donald W. Renninger, Ohio; Matthew D. Renninger, Lairdsville; Brandon J. Shoemaker, Unityville; seven great-grandchildren: Glenn, Brandon, Gabriel, Lilly, Noah, Nolan and Jacob.

Also surviving are three siblings: Georgia Beishline, Hughesville; Ario Lester Sweet, and his wife Elaine, Benton; Jane, wife of Arthur Krieger, Suigarloaf and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Walter E. Minto, Jr. officiating. Interment in St, James Cemetery near Bendertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9-10 a. m.
