Margery J. (Howell) Kisner

Margery J. (Howell) Kisner, age 92, of Main St., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), died Monday at the Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Berwick, where she was a guest.

Born in Bloomsburg on October 12, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Ralph S. and Helen C. (Adams) Howell. She was a lifelong resident of the Lightstreet area and a 1948 graduate of the former Scott Township High School.

Margery was employed by the former Columbia County Farmer’s National Bank from 1947 to 1990. At the time she retired she was the vice president of operations. She retired to become a full time Grammy.

She was a faithful active member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church. For many years she was in charge of recruiting ushers and greeters for church services and welcoming new members and visitors for the services. She also provided meals to shut ins for many years.

Margery enjoyed music and dancing, as well as vacationing at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. She was an excellent cook and baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Richard M. “Dick” Kisner, on January 18, 2007; a daughter, Peggy Jo Kisner, on August 13, 1956; a grandson, Matthew Richard “Matt” Kisner, on May 21, 2000; and her brother, Jack A. Howell, Sr., on April 5, 1986.

She is survived by a daughter, Dianne M. Hewitt, of Lightstreet; two sons, Richard M. Kisner, Jr., and his wife Melissa, of Lightstreet, and John S. Kisner, of Orangeville; two granddaughters, Laura Yocum, of State College, and Katie Burnett, of Bloomsburg; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Matje, of Mifflinville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Lighthouse at Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), with her pastor, Rev. Becky Cuddeback, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park in Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. or at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.

The family will provide flowers. Friends may contribute in her memory to the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
