Mabel I. (McKane) Swartz

Mabel I. (McKane) Swartz, age 93, of Danville, passed away on Thursday February 12, 2026 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on January 30, 1933 in Meadowbrook, Long Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret P. (Leslie) McKane. She resided in Danville since 1960.

Mabel was employed by the Danville State Hospital as a custodial supervisor from 1972 until retiring in 1994.

She loved to quilt, sew, cook, read, and travel. She especially enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family and her dog, Jeanni.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Swartz, on June 24, 1991; son, William H. Swartz, on September 18, 2025; two brothers, infant William McKane and Alexander McKane in November 1990; three sisters: Isabella Thornton in 2011, Margaret Eaton, and Helen Moss.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia A., wife of Donald Lutz, III, of Danville, son, Daniel E. Swartz, of Mahanoy City; five grandchildren: Carey E. Lutz, Marcie L. Lutz, Donald L. Lutz, IV, Sarah Swartz, and Dennis Swartz; four great-grandchildren: Dylan, Maribelle, Caden, and Callum. She was the last of her immediate family and is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville, with Pastor Greg Molter, officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
