Lynn Croft Davies, age 89, of Cherry Street, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Thomas A. Davies, Jr., age 92, of Cherry Street, Bloomsburg died at Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Scott Township on Monday, March 25, 2024.
Lynn was born on August 22, 1934 in Canonsburg, Washington County, a daughter of the late John M. and Pauline (Fithian) Croft. She was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, PA and received her B. A. degree from Bloomsburg State College in 1972. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1964.
She was an accomplished artist from 1972 until recently. She also served as administrator and Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsburg for many years. She dedicated her life to service through First Presbyterian Church, Central Columbia School District and the Presbyterian Synod of the Trinity and also worked with youth for over 30 years.
Tom was born on November 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Thomas A., Sr. and Pearl G. (Shannon) Davies. He was a graduate of South Hills High School in 1949 and received B. S. degree from Waynesburg College in 1953. He received his M. S. degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
He moved to Bloomsburg in 1964 when he joined the staff of Bloomsburg State Teachers College where he supervised student teachers. He later became the Director of Career Development at Bloomsburg University, retiring in 1993.
Tom dedicated his life to First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsburg, Central Columbia School District, Columbia County United Way, Bloomsburg YMCA and the Salvation Army.
He served his country by serving with the U. S. Army during the Korean War from Dec. 3, 1953 to Nov. 17, 1955.
Tom and Lynn are survived by three daughters: Pamela Davies Smith (Dwight), of Boiling Springs; Beth Alayne Smith of Bloomsburg; Kristin Davies-Croft of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Jared Steinruck (Lisa), Chadd Steinruck, Garrett Lang, Kerrigan Smith, Aidan Laubacher-Smith (Kate) and Madoc Smith; three great-grandchildren: Ava Steinruck, Landyn Steinruck and Fae Laubacher-Smith.
Tom was preceded in death by two sisters: June Davies Rush and Nancy Davies Dillon and a brother Robert G. Davies.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 a. m. in First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market Street, Bloomsburg with their former pastor, Rev. Steven Cureton and current pastor Rev. Pamela Meilands officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
