Leland Robert "Mouse" Grasley

Leland Robert “Mouse” Grasley, age 88, of 2548 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Espy) died peacefully at his home at 2:08 p. m. Friday, June 4, 2021 under the care of Geisinger Hospice and several wonderful caregivers and family who walked with him on the last leg of his journey.

Born in Berwick on January 12, 1933, he was a son of the late Lewis L. and Carrie E. (Sult) Grasley. He was a 1951 graduate of Berwick High School and a resident of Espy for 63 years.

Bob was employed as a welder by Girton Manufacturing Co., Millville for 39 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, where he served for a time on the Church council and the property committee. He also was a life member of the Espy Fire Co. and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A well known baseball player, he was signed by the Boston Braves with whom he played for one year before Uncle Sam had other plans and drafted him into the Army. He served with the 1st Division in Germany from 1953 to 1955.

 Bob is survived by his wife, the former Sandra J. Pursel, with whom he would have observed his 65th wedding anniversary in July, 2021; two children, Steven D. Grasley, and his wife Ruth Ann, Shippensburg and Crystal (Grasley) Andrezze, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren: Amanda (Andrezze) Smith, Jessica (Andrezze) Angove, Jessica (Igneri) Brindle, Kerysa Grasley, Steven D. Grasley, Jr.; five great-grandchildren: Madison, Kinsleigh, Leo, Maverick and Colt; and a brother Dr. Randall Grasley, and his wife Rozann, Millville.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Military honors will be provided by the combined American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard.  The family will greet friends from 1-2 p. m.

The family will provide flowers. Friends may remember Mouse with a contribution to a charity of their choice.
