Leah M. (Spangler) Baranaskas, age 92, of 335 West Main St., Bloomsburg, died at her home at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday August 27, 2022 after an illness.

Born in Turbotville on March 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Grace (Plotts) Spangler. She was a 1948 graduate of Turbotville High School and resided in Bloomsburg since 1949.

Leah was employed by the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge and their kitchen for 20 years as a cook.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and she volunteered at many church functions.

Leah was an avid reader of murder mysteries and thrillers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Edward H. Baranaskas, Sr. on April 2, 1997, and by eight siblings.

Surviving are eight children: Charlene Knorr, of Bloomsburg, Carolene Glenn, of St. Augustine, FL, Maria M. Imholt, of Pensacola, FL, Edward H. Baranakas, Jr., Philippines, Debra M., wife of Scott Cooper, Front Royal, VA, Stephen L. Baranaskas, of Catonsville, MD, Michael J. Baranaskas, of Bloomsburg, Nancy C. Baranaskas, of Brookville; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg at the convenience of the family. Her pastor, Rev. Richard J. Mowery, will officiate. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
