LaRue G. "Pappy" Rupert

LaRue G. “Pappy” Rupert, 94, of Jefferson Street, Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge) died peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 11, 2025 with his daughter Barbara at his side and under the care of Gesinger Hospice.

Born in Mifflin Township on January 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Robert W. and Mamie F. (Robinholt) Rupert. He was a 1951 graduate of Berwick High School and a lifelong resident of the Lime Ridge area.

Pappy was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for many years driving the shuttle bus, retiring in 1996. He also was employed at the annual Bloomsburg Fair as a ticket taker for over 50 years.

He was a member of the New Hope Church in Lime Ridge. He also was a life member and last charter member of the Lime Ridge Fire Co., the former Bloomsburg Moose Club and Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.

Pappy served his country with honor as a member of the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, the former Beverly A. Ritter, on February 14, 2017; four brothers: William Rupert, Robert Rupert, Harold Rupert and Floyd Rupert; and two sisters: Elizabeth Roeder and Lois Rupert.

Pappy is survived by his daughter, Barbara Rupert who resided with him, a sister Joyce Ansbach of Berwick and a sister- in law, Joanne Rupert of Watsontown.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 4 p. m. in the New Hope Church, 6405 Fourth Street, Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge) with his pastor, Rev. Vincent Keister officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the U.S. Navy and the combined VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Church from 3-4 p. m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
