Kathleen M. “Kay” (Hess) Mausteller, age 99, of Rupert Drive, Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday January 15, 2026 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Scott Township, where she had resided for several years.
Born on September 12, 1926 in Sugarloaf Twp., Columbia County, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and B. Ione (Golder) Hess. She was a 1944 graduate of Benton High School and resided in Rupert for 76 years.
Kay worked as a beautician in her former shop in Bloomsburg for many years and later out of her home in Rupert.
She was a member of The Bridge at Ridge Street United Methodist Church in Almedia. Earlier, she was a member of the former Rupert United Methodist Church for over 70 years.
Kay belonged to the Retreads motorcycle group.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John C. Mausteller, on January 1, 2020.
Surviving are her five children: Randy J. Mausteller, and his partner Deb, Pam K. Mills, Bud Mausteller, all of Bloomsburg, Debbie Levine, and her significant other, Bill, of Pittsburgh, and Kerry L. Mausteller, and his wife, Iliana, of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Duane Mausteller, Shannon Mausteller, Erin Mills, Nikki Mausteller, Elyse Bankes (Devin), and Sarah Ross (Emerson); five great-grandchildren: Fynnegan, Zane, Nico, Jamie, and Joey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 22, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Kelly Kocher Ross, officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be made in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Bridge at Ridge Street United Methodist Church, 145 Ridge St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
