Joyce (Craig) Miles, age 90, of Northumberland, passed away peacefully in her sleep the evening of April 9, 2026.
Born on February 25, 1936 in Ft. Fairfield, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Tedford Craig and Pearl Hoyt. Joyce was a graduate of Presque Isle Maine High School.
Joyce married the love of her life, Jim, on June 9, 1959. She was a proud Air Force wife and traveled with her husband all over the United States. She held a variety of jobs during this time with most of her years of employment at Offset Paperback in Dallas, PA.
A week ago, Joyce awoke suddenly, with a joy on her face, and exclaimed to her daughter, “it’s so beautiful!” She got a glimpse of heaven which brought her great peace. She was faithfully looking forward to being in the presence of Jesus and being reunited with her husband and parents.
Joyce was a truly devoted wife, mother, and friend to all. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wore the title of “Nanny” affectionately. Joyce loved life and had a very positive and adventurous spirit. One of her favorite sayings was, “Upsy daisy, don’t be lazy!” She loved to dance, read, knit, and crochet. She will also be fondly remembered for her delicious pies and cutout cookies. She will be greatly missed.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, James Miles, on July 29, 2025.
She is survived by two children: Joyce Campenni and husband Sam, of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania and James Miles, Jr. and his wife Christine, of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Joyce has four grandchildren: Christina Sarge, Samantha Campenni-Hunt, Amanda Beard, and Tyler Miles. She was also blessed to have six great-grandchildren: Skylar, William, Parker, Charlotte, Sloane, and Blaire.
At Joyce’s request, there will be no funeral services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
