John R. Lanning

John R. Lanning, age 72, of 6470 Main St., Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge), passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Born on May 16, 1953 in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Harvey L. and Ethel G. (Aten) Lanning.

John was a proud American who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979.

He was a long-time proud bus driver for the Central Columbia School District and a tour bus driver for Catawese Coach Lines.

John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Berwick.

His passion was taking pictures and working on genealogy. He also loved to play Santa for families at Christmas.

Surviving are his four children: Billie Jo Lynn Lanning, of Milford, Delaware, Jory Lanning, of Bloomsburg, Paul Planning, of Pittsburgh, and Emily Lanning, of Pittsburgh.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 2 p.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7368 School House Rd, Berwick, PA 18603

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, 110 Juniper St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or the VFW Post 804, 1258 Millville Rd., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
