John K. “Jack” Griffith, age 91, of Quarryville and formerly Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday September 29, 2025 at his home.

Born on January 28, 1934 in Mt. Carmel, he was the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Keihl) Griffith. He was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

Jack proudly served his country by serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was a tower operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 40 years.

Jack was a member of the VFW Post 804 and the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.

He loved to sing and play the harmonica. Throughout his 80's he entertained all ages by singing Frank Sinatra karaoke songs at the former Good Ole Days in Bloomsburg. College students adored him and loved when he got on stage. Jack also put on shows for residents of nursing homes in the area. 

He also enjoyed bowling, playing in pool leagues, and playing horseshoes throughout his entire life. He was a national champion in horseshoes. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dolores (Karpovich) Griffith, on September 1, 2020; step-granddaughter, Tara Helwig Vining, on June 13, 2022; two sisters; and three brothers. 

Surviving are his two sons, Gary J. Griffith, and his wife Susan, of Quarryville and John Griffith, of Bloomsburg; stepson, Willard “Skeeter” Helwig, and his wife Susan, of Catawissa; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday October 17, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
